Guilty Pleasure

I have a confession--there are few things in life I love to do more than take a good nap.  I thought of this again recently as I tried to "hide" the fact I took an afternoon nap.  Why did I feel this need to hide?  No one was up with me all five mornings this week at 5 a.m., nor did they stay up folding laundry or emptying the diswasher at 10 p.m.
I'm going to nap and nap proudly!  Well . . . I might not broadcast it.  It's my guilty pleasure.

Editing literature

The poll on today's local news website:  Should classic literature be edited before allowing students to read it?  The specific reference was to taking the "n" word out of Mark Twain.

I can (and do) choose to edit the books my own children read; however, let's not have the "powers that be" arbitrarily trying to rewrite classic literature's version history.  It waters down our perspective of the times.

New Year's Reflection--Great.

While sitting at dinner on New Year's Day, I asked our family what was the best thing that happened to them in 2010.  The kids answered some age-appropriate thoughtful things.  I said it was my husband getting a new job so he could be home with us more.  Then it was my husband's turn.
"When I got my I-pad."  Well . . .

I think this was an episode on some sitcom.  Fortunately we've been married too long to take offense, though I might use this one when I ask for a fancy phone for my birthday.
