My tombstone will read: "the most average person in the world." Since I represent the average, I find humor anything and everyone . . . including myself.

Little Things #35--Organic Produce
Every Wednesday I receive a box (delivered to my door) of organic produce. I'm still having a difficult time utilizing all of the greens, but I've gotten three of the five of us to be more adventurous in eating new things. We cannot wait to see what is in our "Happy Box" each Wednesday.

Another Mom-of-the-Year Moment
My husband and I "banter" about purchasing organic milk. He says it's a scam because it is expensive and doesn't taste like milk. I tell him that as much milk as our family drinks (minus him), buying organic half the time isn't a bad idea. So I was out shopping and needed milk--I bought two half-gallon cartons of organic at a warehouse store (which may or may not be relevant). We had my sister's family of five visiting and the fridge was full, so I pour one of the cartons into the gallon jug already in the fridge--it all just fit. That was Sunday afternoon. All was good.
Tuesday morning my daughter opened the new 1/2 gallon and poured it on her cereal. She immediately started whining it tasted bad. Of course I growled at her something about how her father has her brain-washed that organic milk is not milk. "No mom--it really smells kind of sour." So I yanked the carton off the counter, checked the expiration date (which was good), and took a regretable big wiff. The milk was spoiled. Oh yes, another episode to record for my mom-of-the-year award.
FYI--I did apologize for doubting her. This act should win me SOME brownie points.

New Game
Last week on FB I posted "Flower or Weed." This week's game is "What-Is-This-&-How-Do-I-Eat-It?" Process of elimination tells me it is kohlrabi, but I need to research to be sure. Then I need to figure out how to eat it.
I want to be a healthy eater--I'm hoping these deliveries will give me that added push. (Plus the adventure of trying new foods). I'm off to find kohlrabi recipes . . .
Organic Produce Delivery
I just got my second shipment from the local organic farmer. All these veggies and fruits just makes me want to eat healthy (plus I don't want to waste food . . . especially that for which I paid). I need to adjust to all of the "greens." We do eat salad--but now need to eat more. I think at least once a week I need to make some sort of bean-and-greens soup. I tried tonight for the first time--it wasn't too bad. Pair it w/ a salad or a sandwhich and I think I can get most in the family to enjoy. The toughest critic is the daddy--and he's gone for another nearly 2-week stint. I have some more time to "perfect" things.
I'm grabbing an apple and heading to bed (I already ate the icecream bar--sssshhhhh!)
